The Archbishops’ Preliminary Certificate in Church Music

The Archbishops’ Preliminary Certificate in Church Music is an introductory-level course that may be undertaken as a ‘stand-alone’ project or as preparation for further study with the Guild. The Preliminary Certificate is open to adults, teenagers, and children, and is examined at a depth appropriate to the candidate’s age, experience, and church context, subject to the minimum technical standards specified in the Syllabus.

The aim of the Preliminary Certificate is not only to develop practical work, but to encourage attentive listening and reflection on the role of music in worship.
